ROTARY CLUB SORRENTO

On 4 October, 1990, the Assembly of the Rotary-Club Castellammare-Sorrento deliberated to start the procedure for the creation of the Rotary Club of Sorrento. Twenty-five members carried out the initiative and summoned a constitutive meeting of the provisional club on 22 December, 1990, communicating the resolution to Professor Antonio Carosella who, in the meantime, had been appointed representative of the Governor of the District 2100 (Luigi Porcari) for the organization of the Club.

On 21 January, 1991, the First Board of Directors of the Club of Sorrento was summoned, whereas on 27th December of that same year the communication of the official acceptance of the Club arrived from Evanston, USA (the head office of the Rotary International). The Charta was given to the Rotary Club of Sorrento during a special ceremony, from the Governor of the District 2100, Mr. Modesto Caputo, on 2 April, 1992.

The Charta is the official certificate which is issued from the Rotary International: It proves that the new Club has really become part of the Rotarian Family. With the delivery of the Charta to the Club of Sorrento which was being formed, the Club of Sorrento became part of the Rotary International.
